Join us for the first Philo Bistro of the year, featuring Samantha Lang, acclaimed Australian filmmaker and long-time friend of the
Alliance Française French Film Festival.
This conversation will explore the creative and cultural bridges between Australian and French cinema, with a particular focus on arthouse
and auteur filmmaking - a tradition deeply rooted in France, yet often challenging to finance. Drawing on Samantha Lang’s films and
career, the discussion will touch on artistic freedom, storytelling, and the realities of independent cinema today.
An open, thoughtful and inspiring exchange at the crossroads of cinema, culture and ideas.
Olivier Vojetta is a French author, literary critic, and creative strategy consultant based in Sydney. A former finance professional, he now advises senior executives and writes novels exploring themes of escape and transformation. His contribution to cultural dialogue through Philo Bistro was recognised with the 2024 French Australian Excellence Award in Arts and Culture (Prix Yves Hernot).
